I use Code when I want to edit code files and push them to a repository. The directory where VsDevCmd.bat is located can be determined with vswhere.exe, which is (by default) located under C:Program Files. I echo some other people’s thoughts of using both. Beginning with Visual Studio 2017, the Visual Studio environment variables are set by VsDevCmd.bat (which extends the functionality of vsvars32.bat of earlier Visual Studio versions).
